New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft owns another storied Boston franchise that you may not be as familiar with. It's called the Boston Uprising.

The Boston Uprising is a professional esports team that, in 2018, became the first franchise in its league's history to go undefeated in the regular season.

But what is esports? Esports is a form of competitive video gaming.

And Kraft isn't the only major league sports figure turning his attention to the exploding industry.

In 2016, former Utah Jazz forward Gordon Hayward became the first NBA player to ink an esports endorsement deal.

In 2018, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster signed a six-figure esports endorsement contract.

And former Super Bowl-winning running back for the Philadelphia Eagles, Jay Ajayi, is the most recent professional athlete to join the star-studded lineup of esports crossovers. He's now the Philadelphia Union's official esports player for the eMLS League Series One, an esports soccer tournament.

Not to mention, Steph Curry, Andre Iguodala, Kevin Durant, Alex Rodriguez, Marshawn Lynch, Kobe Bryant and a laundry list of other pro athletes have invested millions in the video game craze.

The question now is, if you haven't yet earmarked esports as an investment opportunity, why not?

In this week's edition of Biz Now!, I dug into the tantalizing projections for the esports industry. And that's merely looking at the short term over the next couple of years.

I also provide interested investors a cartful of opportunities to consider before dipping their toes into the esports arena.

Even if you aren't a video game enthusiast, the upside to the industry is too much to pass up.

To find out why esports should be on your investment radar, check out this week's Biz Now!

Here's to high returns,

Matthew
