Everyone Hates It? Buy It! Everyone loves a deal, whether it's buy-one-get-one steaks at the grocery store or a sweet deal on a car.

| Everyone Hates It? Buy It! | | Everyone loves a deal, whether it's buy-one-get-one steaks at the grocery store or a sweet deal on a car.
But when it comes to investing, people tend to hate deals.
That may be because, whatever the deal is, they already own it. It's hard to see the deal when it's something you already own—especially if it's already dropped 50 percent in value (or more).
This perception is everything. It's only in hindsight when we recognize the value of buying more of something that we already owned. This is a huge component to investing, and can apply to assets that you don't own yet either.
If you're feeling bad about an investment because it's already fallen, chances are the entire market has felt the same way as well. That actually may mean a buying opportunity… provided you have patience for the long-term.
Today, more than a decade after the markets started to move higher, only a small handful of assets haven't gone along for the ride. Doesn't that sound a lot more interesting than all the assets that have risen?
While there may be some challenges for these out-of-favor assets, their underperformance for so long makes them look like an interesting buy. And one of the worst-performing assets? Natural gas. It's looking so ugly at this point that it's starting to look like a buy.
