Is this the ninth inning for the bull market?

Please note that his opinions may differ from what you read in Economy & Markets. —Teresa van den Barselaar Dear Subscriber, On April 18, 1981 at 8 PM, the Pawtucket Red Sox and the Rochester Red Wings ran onto the field for what many expected to be just another nine-inning game. On the field were two future Hall of Famers… Wade Boggs and Cal Ripken, Jr. By 4:07 am, as the game rolled into the 32nd inning, the umps decided they’d had enough and suspended the game. When they came back two months later, it only took one more inning and 18 minutes to complete what is still the longest game in professional baseball history - 33 innings and 8 hours and 25 minutes. So, what does this have to do with stocks? Well, after I finished up a recent video shoot, the interviewer thought he’d ask me a simple question… “What inning are we in of this bull market?” For some reason, people like to talk about long trends like this as if they’re a 9-inning game with a defined end. But as you can see, there’s no rule that says the game has to end after nine innings. That’s true in baseball and it’s true in the stock market. Look, I honestly don’t know how much longer this bull market will last.  It could go another 10 days… or it could last another 10 years! The only thing I can tell you is that I’m constantly monitoring the situation… Looking at over 5,000 charts a week… Making predictions about which way I think the market is going next. And when I do see signs of a top – like I did before the big crash in 2008 and the 20% drop late last year… I’m confident you’ll hear it from me before just about anyone else. That’s lower than they would eventually hit as major leaguers, but you only need to hit .300 to be a Hall of Famer. That’s not true in the stock market.
