Markets down as earnings season approaches

Earnings season starts for real this week, with the banks kicking thing off starting Wednesday.

Tensions about rising cases and possible further lockdowns caused some concern among investors, which forced the markets slightly lower on Monday.

It will be interesting to see how earnings from the major banks affect the market, it at all, in the coming days.

Monster Wins are on everyone's mind these days.

From Bitcoin to Ethereum to GME to AMC to TSLA.

(Hey, remember when TSLA was hot? That seems like a long time ago, which is crazy!)

Monster Wins seem like the norm, something we all should be striving for.
But should we be?

Well, yes and no.

Yes, there's nothing wrong with trying to catch a Big Win. It can change your trading account size and change your life.

But, no, we definitely should not be chasing Monster Wins...if we do it irresponsibly.

Getting a tip from a friend, searching online articles, and then following the advice of the reddit gambling horde is not a viable strategy.

It almost certainly will not end well.

So, how do we know if we're trading responsibly?

The answer is simple.

If it's repeatable, it's usable.

If what you're doing can be repeated next week and have the same prospects of success, then it's a trading strategy.

And trading strategies are how we get Monster Wins.

Without blowing up anyone's account.

Message board bravado and hope is not a strategy.

A trading system (with rules) that's utilized on instruments that tend to trend hard, however, is something we can do long-term.
