In order for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to keep her post, she needed at least 214 votes on Sunday, allowing her to lose a mere six nods from Democrats.
However, the method she used to secure those votes has sparked outrage.
Officials evidently constructed a plexiglass structure that would enable people to vote even if they'd been exposed to the virus. One representative, Gwen Moore, was allowed to vote even though she tested positive just days before, on December 28.
"To build a structure like that, in the dark of night, to only protect the votes that Speaker Pelosi needs to get reelected speaker, is shameful," said Representative Rodney Davis. "This is completely against everything we're told throughout this entire pandemic for house operations."

The event on Sunday included confrontations between shoppers and those advocating against masks.
According to The Beverly Hills Courier Twitter account, "Almost immediately after entering...Ralph's, a physical altercation broke out between an anti masker and a shopper. The protester claimed that the shopper hit her. In response, she pushes a cart into him and strikes him."
One of the women in attendance said, "[Masks] are all about control, this has nothing to do with a deadly virus...because a mask does not protect you from a deadly virus."
