Now, let's dig in! Image Source: CNBC The stock market was up slightly on Wednesday even after the President announced his distaste for the latest stimulus relief package on Tuesday night.
Though he never said he would veto the proposal, President Donald Trump did express urgency, saying he needed a "suitable bill or else the next administration will have to deliver a [virus] relief package."
"It feels like the market is following the rule of 'watch what he does, not what he says' in terms of the President's late night drive-by shooting of the [virus] aid package," National Securities Chief Market Strategist Art Hogan said. "Odds are there is enough time to tweak the relief legislation enough to get it passed and signed."
Meanwhile, the government reported its latest look at initial jobless claims, and that number was significantly less than estimates, coming in at 803,000 versus the anticipated 888,000.

After two years in the position, today was Bill Barr's final day. His resignation follows some conflicts between himself and the President following the contested election and a host of ongoing investigations.
"Today is my last day as Attorney General," Barr said in his message. "As I told the President in my departure letter and reiterated during my final press conference on Monday, it has been a great honor to serve once again in this role. Over the past two years, the dedicated men and women of this Department–including its operational components–have risen to meet historic challenges and upheld our vital mission to enforce the rule of law."
Here's what else he had to say as he heads on to his next adventure.
