Now, let's dig in! Image Source: AARP The stock market was climbing on Wednesday, getting ready to close the year on a high note. Thus far, all three major averages are poised to post gains for 2020, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average increasing 7%, the S&P 500 climbing 15.8%, and the Nasdaq Composite roaring 43.7% ahead for the year.
"While we're happy with the stimulus that we have thus far, it's likely that we're going to need additional stimulus because the rising [virus] cases will likely lead to more regional lockdowns after the holidays," Verdence Capital Advisors Director of Portfolio Strategy Megan Horneman said.

Image Source: CNBC President Donald Trump admonished states to speed up their distribution of the vaccines.
He wrote in a tweet, "The Federal Government has distributed the vaccines to the states. Now it is up to the states to administer. Get moving!"
So far, only 2.1 million people have gotten their first shots, according to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That's a mere fraction of the more than 11.4 million doses that have been distributed nationwide.
"A large difference between the number of doses distributed and the number of doses administered is expected at this point in the [virus] vaccination program due to several factors," CDC officials said.
An Operation Warp Speed official said the government is on track to reach its goal of inoculating 20 million Americans before year's end.
