Now, let's dig in! Image Source: CNBC The markets took a bit of a breather the day before Thanksgiving, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipping slightly -- about 200 points or .7%, and the S&P 500 falling .3%. The Nasdaq Composite, meanwhile, enjoyed a slight uptick of .4%.
Investors were digesting the latest initial unemployment claims report that was released this morning. Instead of the anticipated 733,000 claims, there were 778,000.
Money market economist, Thomas Simons, said: "There was building evidence that claims were going to hit a near-term bottom and the downward momentum (which was already slowing) that had been intact for months would reverse. The data of the past two weeks emphatically confirms these expectations."
Also today, after it was discovered that Salesforce could potentially buy Slack Technologies, its shares fell over 3%, while Slack's stocks increased over 25%.
Overall, the Dow is tracking for a record gain this month, closing over 30,000 yesterday.
Other Hot Market News... This is exactly what you need to make it big
Image Source: Snopes A rumor has been flying all over some social media and popular fake news sites that the Conservative social network, Parler, has been hacked.
If that's been worrying you, you can relax. It's not true at all.
"The alleged 'Parler hack' is a screenshot from a WordPress website that has been circulated repeatedly over the past 6 months, despite Parler's multiple responses that we do not use WordPress products, nor WordPress databases. All of our databases are hidden behind multiple layers of security and are not accessible via the web. This is an irresponsible rumor which uses a 'techie' looking WordPress config file which is only capable of confusing a journalistic hack, not an actual hacker. If Twitter continues to fact check others, they should also fact check posts such as these that spread viral misinformation," Matze wrote on his social media platform on Tuesday.
