🇺🇸U.S.-China Trade Talks to Resume Next Week

"Nothing important happened today." So wrote King George in his diary on July 4, 1776. In the days of sailing ships dependent on winds, it would take nearly two months for a copy of the Declaration of Independence to reach his hands.
Good morning. "Nothing important happened today." So wrote King George in his diary on July 4, 1776. In the days of sailing ships dependent on winds, it would take nearly two months for a copy of the Declaration of Independence to reach his hands.

Today, such communication would be instantaneous thanks to improvements in technology. While the thought of the founding fathers having a Youtube channel sounds interesting, fast communication between the United States and Great Britain has been around since 1858, when the first trans-Atlantic telegraph cable was laid. In fact, some forex traders still refer to the British pound as "cable" as a result. And, ironically, very little of importance in the financial world occurs on July 4th, as the United States still represents about half of the globe's total stock market wealth and markets are closed.
